Springless mattresses

What is inside a springless mattress?

A springless mattress has no springs at all — only layers of material, each doing its own job. Hence the advantages: nothing creaks, it weighs less than a spring mattress, and its two sides can be given different firmness. Eight models here, two of them children's. If you are still choosing between spring and springless, start with the full mattress guide.

What it is made of

The names are the ones used in the product specification and in the “Filling” filter. The higher up the list, the more often the material appears in this category.

  • Natural latexed coir Cocos Shield — the firm layer, in five models out of eight.
  • Orthopedic foam Ecofoam — the base in four models. Its density sets the firmness of the mattress.
  • Natural latex Latex Care — the soft layer that adapts closely to the body — in Breeze, Children’s Lux and Grand Soft.
  • Latex foam Aero Latex — a breathable layer with ventilation channels — in Breeze, Balance and Air.
  • Latex Support latexized foam — the profiled layer in Balance and Air: the surface is divided into zones, so load is spread instead of pressing on one point.

Two sides, two firmnesses

Half the category is dual-sided: turn the mattress over and the support changes. Useful as a child grows, or when two people cannot agree.

Size

Sizes are given in millimetres, exactly as in the product specification: the width of the sleeping surface first, then the length.

600–700 mm

Children’s

600×1200 and 700×1400. Two models — Children’s Bio and Children’s Lux, both with a removable cotton cover.

800–900 mm

Single

800×1900, 800×2000, 900×1900, 900×2000.

1200–1800 mm

Small double and double

From 1200×1900 through to 1800×2000.

There is no 2000×2000 springless model — that width exists among the spring mattresses.

Firmness

The same values as the “Firmness” filter on the left. For dual-sided models the specification lists both.

Medium
Six models out of eight. The most universal option for a weight within the normal range.
Firm
Five models, four of them firm on one side only.
Medium firm
One side of Optima Plus.

There is no soft springless model in the range at the moment — for the softest mattresses we make, look among the spring ones.

What else to look at

All of these are listed in the specification of every model, on its own product page.

  • Height runs from 160 to 230 mm on the adult models, and 70–90 mm on the children’s ones.
  • Maximum load runs from 80 to 150 kg per sleeping place.
  • Seven models out of eight come with a removable cover that can be taken off and washed.
  • The warranty is 10 or 20 years, depending on the model.
  • A springless mattress weighs less than a spring one — easier to turn over and to carry upstairs.

Questions and answers

Can a springless mattress go on a slatted base?
Yes. A springless mattress needs a level base that lets air through from below, and a slatted frame does that. The permissible gap between the slats can depend on the mattress model, so if you buy the mattress and the base separately, ask our staff whether they are compatible.
Are there springless mattresses with sides of different firmness?
Yes, on some models the two sides differ in firmness. Where the manufacturer allows a particular model to be turned over, this lets you change how the surface feels. Check the firmness of each side and the rules of use on the product page and in the instructions for the mattress.
What load does a springless mattress take?
It depends on the model: the permissible load per sleeping place is given in the specification of every mattress. If your weight is close to the limit, choose a model with a margin.
