Corner sofas

The five corners

All of them have a linen box except the stationary Lorens. The side of the corner is set during assembly, so any of them will face left or right.

The measurements that matter

All specifications are in millimetres. For a corner sofa two numbers decide everything: the folded footprint and the seat depth.

Folded footprint

From 2230 × 1600 mm on Richard New to 3030 × 2220 mm on Gabriel. This is the floor the sofa takes for good — mark it out with tape.

Sleeping area

1600 × 2000 on Richard New, 1630 × 2050 on Gabriel, 1700 × 2300 on Harold and Sidney. Lorens has none.

Seat height

From 450 to 490 mm. Lower means a deeper lounge seat; higher is easier to get out of.

Seat depth

From 550 to 800 mm. Gabriel and Sidney are the deepest: comfortable to sit on with your feet up.

Floor clearance

From 20 to 180 mm. A robot vacuum passes freely under Lorens, but not under Richard New.

The load rating is 110 to 120 kg per seat. All five have removable cushions.

What is inside

These are the same names that appear in each model’s specification.

• Frame — Solid wood, wood base, particle board and fibreboard. The seat base often rests on beech slats.
• Multi Pocket Spring TPS block — Every spring in its own pocket — the same principle as in Veneto mattresses. Fitted to Harold, Gabriel, Sidney and Richard New.
• Bonnell spring block — The alternative on Gabriel and Richard New: springs linked to one another.
• Ecofoam orthopaedic foam — The main working layer in all five models.
• Aero Latex foam — Springier and more breathable. Found in Harold and Sidney.
• Memoryfoam — Responds to body heat and follows your shape. Gabriel carries it as the top layer.
• ReFiberMix thermal felt — A dividing layer between springs and foam, so the springs cannot press through.

What to check before ordering

A corner sofa forgives no mistakes: if it does not fit, there is nowhere else to put it.

• Mark the footprint on the floor with masking tape and live with it for a day. A corner eats more of the room than a photograph suggests.
• Decide which side the corner goes on in advance — it is set during assembly, not after delivery.
• Measure your doors, lift and stair turn: the sofa ships in parts, but the seat is one piece.
• If someone will sleep on it every night, look at Harold and Sidney — they have the largest sleeping area.
• If you only need somewhere to rest rather than a second bed, Lorens costs less than the folding models and sits deeper.
