VENETO bed frames — a dependable base for your mattress

A properly chosen base helps the mattress work the way its construction intends, gives it steady support and lets it ventilate from below.

The VENETO collection has metal frames with beech slats. The models differ in the number and the width of the slats, in the spacing between them and, in some versions, in having extra slats and firmness adjustment.

Why does a mattress need a slatted base?

The mattress and the base work together. Even a good mattress needs a level, dependable support that matches its size and its construction.

A slatted base has several practical advantages:

  • it supports the mattress across its whole area;
  • it leaves room for air to circulate under the mattress;
  • springy slats respond to the load;
  • it helps the mattress avoid sagging too much between the points of support.

That is why, when choosing a new mattress, it is worth checking straight away what base it will be used on.

Why does VENETO use beech slats?

Slats are the springy wooden battens the mattress rests on. In VENETO frames they are made of beech.

Beech slats combine strength with spring: under load they can flex a little and return to their original position.

The frame is made of metal tube with a powder polyester coating. That construction gives the slats and the mattress a solid base.

How do VENETO frames differ?

The collection has several models — from simpler constructions to reinforced versions with extra slats and firmness adjustment.

the basic base

Classic Multi

The basic version of a slatted base. It uses beech slats 68 mm wide. It suits anyone who needs a simple, dependable base without extra adjustment.

adjusters in the centre

Veneto Double

A model with wide beech slats and extra slats in the central part of the sleeping area.

The extra slats carry firmness adjusters, so the support in the central zone can be tuned to your own sense of comfort.

38 mm slats

Veneto Comfort

A frame with a greater number of narrow beech slats, 38 mm wide. That construction gives the mattress more frequent points of support along the sleeping area.

the SleepSet system

Veneto Comfort Plus

A development of the Comfort model, with extra slats and SleepSet firmness adjusters. That makes it possible to change the springiness of the base in a particular zone and to tune the sleeping area more precisely.

the most adjustment

Veneto Comfort Plus Max

The most fully equipped model in this group. The frame has both main and extra beech slats, and the SleepSet system adjusts the firmness in the zone where the doubled slats sit.

It is the version to consider if you want the most scope for tuning the base to yourself.

What is SleepSet firmness adjustment?

In models with the SleepSet system, some of the slats are fitted in pairs and carry special adjusters.

Moving the adjusters changes the springiness of that part of the base. It lets you tune the feel of the support to yourself without changing the mattress.

The number of extra slats depends on the particular frame model.

How to match a frame to a mattress?

First of all, the base and the mattress have to match each other in size. If the mattress has a sleeping area of 1600 × 2000 mm, you need a frame of the matching size.

The second important parameter is the construction of the mattress itself. Different types of mattress can carry different recommendations for the maximum permissible spacing between slats.

So when buying a mattress and a base separately, it is better to check that they are compatible. If you choose a VENETO set, our staff will help you match the frame to the particular mattress model.

Which VENETO frame to choose?

Go by three things:

  • You need a simple, dependable base — look at the basic models.
  • You want more points of support under the mattress — look at the Comfort series with its narrow slats.
  • Being able to tune it to yourself matters — choose the models with extra slats and SleepSet adjusters.

The exact specifications, the available sizes and what is included are given on each model's product page.

Legs and installation

For some of the frames the legs are ordered separately. That is worth taking into account when placing an order.

A frame can also be used as the base inside a suitable bed construction — the exact way it is installed depends on the model and on what is included.

If you are not sure which version you need, it is best to tell our staff the model and the size of the mattress and how the frame is to be installed.

Looking after the frame

A slatted base needs no complicated care.

When cleaning, it is enough to dust the frame and the slats from time to time. It is also worth checking the condition of the fixings, the slats and the slat holders now and then, especially if the bed is in active daily use.

If one part is damaged, it is better not to keep using the base until it has been checked or the part replaced.

Questions and answers

How do I choose the size of a frame?
The size of the frame has to match the size of the mattress and the construction of the bed. Before ordering, check the width, the length and whether the base is compatible with the mattress in the specifications of both.
Are the legs included with a frame?
Not always: for some frames the legs are ordered separately. Check this on the product page, or tell our staff how the frame will stand — on its own legs or inside a bed.
What is the warranty on a bed frame?
18 months. The term runs from the date of dispatch; the conditions are set out on the warranty page.
